Step 1: Register yourself
You need to become a registered BidMotors user to bid or buy items listed on BidMotors. Registering is secure, free, and only takes a minute.

Step 2: Provide credit card information
Now that you are a registered user you need to provide a valid credit card in order to begin selling.
To provide you credit card information, you need to login to your My BidMotors user page. Under the “Listing” tab, select “Create Listing”. This being your first visit to the Create Listing page, you will be initially redirected to provide your credit card information. Once you have provided your credit card information, you will then be able to create item listings.
Providing a valid credit card serves two purposes.
1. It provides a measure of validation to ensure you are a legitimate seller
2. It provides as a means to bill you for your seller fees as a primary or secondary billing method.
Selling on BidMotors is safe and secure. BidMotors employs strong encryption and security techniques to provide the safest and most secure environment as possible.
Step 3: Configure payment and billing options
Now that you have provided your credit card information you can now configure your payment and billing options. All payment and billing information is maintained in your My BidMotors user page, under the “Payment & Billing” tab, select “Payment & Billing Information”.
Billing Options
At this point, you have already provided your credit card information, which is currently set as your monthly billing method. You can change the method in which your seller fees are billed to Paypal or Google Checkout instead.
To modify your billing method, follow these steps:
1. Within the “Payment & Billing Information” page there are three sections; Credit Card, Paypal, and Google Checkout. To change your billing method, click on the “Edit” link in the header of the section you wish to select as your billing method. This will unlock this section for you to edit.
2. Add your specific Paypal or Google Checkout account information.
3. Select your default automatic payment method. This is the method in which you will pay for your seller's fees.
4. To save, click on the “Save” link in the header of the edited section.
Note: Only one method can be selected as your default payment method.
Payment Options
Configuring your payment options allow you as the seller to specify if you wish to offer Paypal and/or Google Checkout as accepted payment methods for your sold items. The payment options are used in conjunction with your entered Paypal and/or Google Checkout account information, which is described in the Billing Options section, but repeated in this section.
To modify your payment options, follow these steps:
1. Within the “Payment & Billing Information” page click on the “Edit” link in the “Paypal Information” and/or “Google Checkout Information” header of the section you wish to edit. This will unlock this section for you to edit.
2. Add your specific Paypal or Google Checkout information.
3. Select your accepted payment method
4. To save, click on the “Save” link in the header of the edited section.
Step 4: Create your listing
You are now ready to create and post a listing.
To create and post your listing, follow these steps:
1. Login to your My BidMotors user account
2. Under the “Listing” tab, select “Create Listing”. This will direct you to the listing creation page.
3. If you have already created an Item Profile you wish to use to pre-populate specific listing fields, select it from the “Item Profiles” dropdown menu and click the “Load Profile” button to load your profile.
An Item Profile is a great time saver when creating multiple listings. An Item Profile is essentially a template which a seller creates that will pre-populate user defined fields in the Listing Tool to assist the seller in creating future listings without the repetition of filling the same information for every listing. This is especially useful for sellers that sell similar type items that require the same category, payment, and shipping details. You can create as many Item Profiles as you wish, so there is no limit as to how you configure them for your use. Just create new Item Profiles, save, and they will be there ready for when you create new item listings.
If you wish to create Item Profiles, click on the “New Profile” button. This will launch the Item Profile creation page which will allow you to fill in as you wish are save.
4. Select a Category - First select the main category of your item. Then select the appropriate sub-category. Then continue selecting the appropriate sub-categories to the last level of the Category Tree.
Please Note: All items must be listed in appropriate categories. BidMotors may move your listings and charge you the appropriate fees if they are listed in categories that are not appropriate for the items you are selling.
5. Select Listing Type – There are two basic listing types
6. Specify Item Title and Sub Title
7. Add Price and Duration
8. Add Item Description – Format your listing and provide a detailed description of your product in the description box.
Note: You can switch the Item description pane into HTML mode, which will allow you to format your listing in HTML code.
9. Add Images and YouTube Videos
10. Add Listing Template (optional)
Within the Template display page, you can also create your own custom template by clicking on the “Create Customize Template” which will allow you to create and save your own custom Standard or HTML template.
11. Provide Shipping Information
For vehicles you are limited to the following options:
- No Shipping Services - Buyer is responsible for Pickup or Shipping.
- See Item description for details
For non-vehicle items you can select from the following options:
Flat Rate: If you select this option, you just put the cost of shipping into the “Shipping Cost” field below the “Flat Rate” selection.
Calculated: If you select Calculated Shipping, the remaining fields will be required to be filled out. UPS or USPS will provide a shipping quote based on this information via the BidMotors UPS/USPS shipping interface.
- Package Type – Kind of package the item will be shipped as
- Select Shipping Service – The service (UPS or USPS) the item will be shipped with
- Item Weight – The weight of the item
- Package and Handling Fee – Amount which will be automatically added to the returned UPS/USPS calculated price. This cost is what you feel will cover your package and handling costs.
Freight: If you select this option, you just put the cost of freight shipping into the “Shipping Cost” field below the “Freight” selection.
12. Shipping Insurance
13. Insurance Cost: Required to only if you elect to require shipping insurance.
14. Preview and Post Listing: Once you have completed your listing you can preview your listing to see how it will look once it is published. If you need to make updates to the listing, you can easily make updates and preview or post the listing. Once you are satisfied with the listing, you can post the item for auction or sale.
Step 5: Manage your Listing
Good service is directly related to good sales. Buyers remember good sellers and prefer to transact with them repeatedly. Always respond promptly to item questions. Be courteous and helpful to buyers. Be very clear and transparent in all your communications with the buyers. If there are problems with an item, be professional and work with the buyer to resolve their issues. For vehicle sales, a potential buyer may wish to schedule a time to inspect the vehicle before bidding or buying a vehicle, so be prepared to work with potential buyers to coordinate these events.
Step 6: Complete the Sale
Now that you have successfully sold your item, it is now time to complete the sale. For vehicle sales, it is imperative to contact the buyer as soon as possible to establish communications and coordinate the payment and delivery of the vehicle.
Step 7: Leave Feedback
Feedback is a very important part of the transaction. Once a deal is completed and you have received the item it is imperative that a feedback is left for the buyer. The feedback should be as honest as possible and should reflect what kind of an experience you had with the buyer. A feedback should be left immediately after you have shipped your item.

Tip #2: Offer Guarantees:
Always offer guarantees with your items. Buyers look for items with guarantees as this assures them that if there is a problem with the item they can either have it replaced, repaired, or get their money back.
Tip #3: Offer various methods of payment:
Always offer different kinds of payment methods to buyers, as various buyers prefer various methods of payments. For example, certain buyers feel more comfortable paying online with Paypal or Google Checkout while others prefer a Check or Money Order. When you offer various types of payment methods you capture the maximum number of potential buyers.
Tip #4: Be courteous to your buyers:
Good service is directly related to good sales. Buyers remember good sellers and prefer to transact with them repeatedly. Always be courteous and helpful to buyers. If a buyer has a problem or a query, try to solve it as early as possible. Be very clear and transparent in all your communications with the buyers.
Tip #5: Give prompt feedback ratings:
Rate your buyers as soon as you complete the transaction. Giving feedback is important as it shows that you are a responsible seller, and let other sellers know of good buyer.
Selling FAQs
What is a reserve price?
A reserve price is the minimum amount of money that you are willing to accept for the item. You set this amount before the auction starts and you can elect to either display the reserve price in the listing or not disclose it. To win a reserve price auction, the buyer has to bid higher than the reserve price that you have set.
How do I find items that I am selling?
You can find the items you are selling by logging into your "My BidMotors" user page and selecting the "Active Items" link in the “Sellers Details” section.
What if I don't get a positive feedback or rating from the buyer?
Always maintain good service levels so that buyers can rate you positively for the transaction. If you have any problems with a buyer, solve it and request the buyer to give you a positive rating.
Can I get the email addresses of all my bidders?
Once the auction is closed and your reserve price has been met, you and the winning bidder will be informed about each other's contact details. The email addresses of bidders other than the winning bidder will not be disclosed. BidMotors believes in protecting the privacy of its users.
